For determing the efficiency of wet magnetic separators used for the recovery of magnetite or ferrosilicon in dense medium coal or mineral washing plants.The unit consists of a permanet magnet with pole positioned at right angles to flow of slurry, mounted in a sloping stainless steel frame. a stainless steel tray is hinged at the upper end of the frame and when in direct contact with magnet poles the slurry sample is cascaded over it's surface. The magnetics are held on the tray above the poles. the tray is then lifted into the discharge position to remove the magnetics. Both products are the dried and weighed.
